A new path…

At the beginning of the year I posted about taking my photography business in a new direction. As of the last several weeks, I have seen a new path being formed with my business.

Up until 2015, I stuck to family photography with some events thrown in there. As of now, I have branched out into wedding photography, and I love it! The fear I felt weeks before the unknown evaporated once I got into the process of taking pictures, my focus solely on obtaining the best photos I could take. I know with time I will improve dramatically, but I consider my first wedding to have gone WAY better than it did in my head.

Now, off to finish up my edits.

Go and be adventurous. Try something new with your photography. Learn. Grow. Enjoy.

Maternity Session | Winter 2014

I know, I know. I’m late on my post this week. Forgive me! 🙂 We all have whatever horrible sickness is making it’s way across North Texas right now, and as usual, I was first up for it.

On to more interesting things though!

This was such a seriously fun maternity session. We were dealing with the Golden Hour, so a lot of the shots looked fantastic SOOC. The sun was fun to play with, positioning the subjects to get the right amount of sun/sun flare.

And of course…without the sun. 🙂

Until next time!

Senior Session | Eagle Mtn Park | Winter 2014

It’s that time of year again…senior portrait time! This is one of my favorite types of sessions since one of the biggest things with senior sessions is implementing hobbies/college/extracurricular activities. I love to ask questions while shooting to get to know them and all their future goals/plans.

The senior I am featuring today is planning to join the Navy and has been working as a trainer. Good luck to him in all his future endeavors!

Calling all Fort Worth Photog Moms!

As a mother and photographer, I have yet to find a way to attend some of the local events for photography. Which leaves me without a sense of community. I have joined forums and such, but there is something about working side by side that makes a photographer better.

So with the help of meetup.com, I have created a group for anyone who wants to learn, teach, and just have fun with your camera with a group of like minded individuals. Here is the kicker, it is kid friendly. Someone like me can actually attend and that my friends is a beautiful thing! Check out the link below for more information! (This is not just for moms, anyone is welcome!)

Family Session | Eagle Mtn Park | Fall 2014

Here I am, playing catch up in 2015. I don’t mind though since it is really nice to look back through my work and (gasp!) organize and back it up. As a photographer, having two sources (at the least) of back up is super important. I worry that a client could come back months from now and inquire on a photo, and without backing it up, I may not have it for them.. I always start by saving the files to my computer, then saving them to an external hard drive. (This is pre-editing, btw). After I finish my edits, confirm with the client they are happy with the end result, I back up the edited/non-edited items to a disk. I have two back up systems in case one should fail. I can’t stress how important this is…

Or, how many times it has saved me. ;P

I will quit my blathering and on with the show!

Here is to a wonderful 2015!

I hope everyone of you had a fantastic Christmas! We had a pretty low key year which meant a wonderful Christmas eve service and a quiet night with my family.

I tried to keep the little guy busy this season. It was my first year with Elfie the Elf and ice skating for the first time in, oh, 13 years. (Wonderful, wonderful Instagram)

We had a lovely Christmas Eve church service,

and a nice, calm Christmas morning…at least as calm as it can be with a toddler and Golden Retriever…

and finally completing our day with family. (these are unedited, sorry!)

Happy 2015! Here is my little guy (via instagram) super bored on New Year’s. 🙂

Here is to new adventures and new beginnings.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic week, and I hope for a wonderful holiday for all of you! I will be playing around with my new camera and taking photos of our family get together, and would love to share it with all of you!

I finished up my edits (whew!) just in time for Christmas and will be sharing them over the next few weeks.

Here is a photo to tide you over. It was on the spot, without any filtering, editing, etc. This wonderful couple was kind enough to let me play around with ideas while on location and was very happy with the results! This is a SOOC shot that I really enjoy!

Christmas break!

We are about to shut things down for Christmas break around here. It has been a fantastic year for us here at Crystal Glen Photography! I can’t wait to see what 2015 brings! We are moving into wedding photography next year, so all my photographer friends out there, what new and challenging thing are you doing in photography in 2015?

I have been doing portraits, some events, but mostly just an hour here and there. This is a new milestone for my company, and I am both nervous and excited.  Should be exciting and interesting!
